New projects for Amaravati include a major infrastructure development push funded by loans from the World Bank ($800 million) and Asia Development Bank ($788.8 million), a quantum computing tech park with a partnership involving IBM and Tata Consultancy Services, and the relaunch of the capital city's development, focusing on green spaces, flood mitigation, and improved public transport. The World Bank funding also includes provisions for job-focused skills training, community facilities, and affordable housing.
Infrastructure and urban development
World Bank and ADB funding: A significant new phase of development is being launched with loans from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
Trunk infrastructure: The funding will support the development of key infrastructure, including a road grid, public transport, and water/wastewater systems.
Flood mitigation: Projects are focused on improving drainage systems and building capacity to mitigate flood risks.
Green and low-carbon development: The project aims to build a climate-resilient city using smart, green technologies and nature-based solutions.
Technology and economy
Quantum Valley Tech Park: A partnership between the government, IBM and Tata Consultancy Services to develop India's first Quantum Valley Tech Park in Amaravati.
Skill development: The World Bank program will directly train 17,000 people (10,000 of whom are women) to improve their access to higher-paying jobs.
Other projects
Government buildings: The first government buildings, including the assembly and secretariat, are targeted for completion by 2028.
Educational institutions: Plans include the establishment of educational institutions like BITS Pilani and XLRI
